Deutsche Bank helps issue the Commonwealth of Australia’s $7 billion dollar inaugural green bond

Deutsche Bank is proud to announce its role as Joint Lead Manager on the Commonwealth of Australia’s inaugural AUD 7 billion green bond, working with the Australian Office of Financial Management (AOFM). This landmark issuance marks a significant milestone in Australia's commitment to sustainable finance and reflects the growing demand for environmentally responsible investment opportunities.

The Australian Government has committed to introducing a green bond program to drive Australia's net zero transformation and support environmental objectives. Green Treasury Bonds issued by the AOFM will boost the scale and credibility of Australia's green finance market by attracting green capital and increasing transparency around climate outcomes.

The Australian Government will allocate proceeds from the Green Treasury Bond to projects that deliver positive environmental outcomes and align with three key Green Goals: climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, and improved environmental outcomes. These projects include investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon transportation.

Ben Porter, Debt Capital Markets, Deutsche Bank: "We are delighted to support the AOFM in this pioneering green bond issuance. This transaction not only underscores our commitment to sustainable finance but also highlights the increasing importance of green investments in driving positive environmental outcomes. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the AOFM and other stakeholders in advancing Australia's sustainability agenda."

The successful issuance of the AUD 7 billion green bond demonstrates the robust investor appetite for high-quality, sustainable assets and sets a benchmark for future green bond issuances in the region. Deutsche Bank remains dedicated to fostering innovation in sustainable finance and supporting initiatives that contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.
